Re: New Unrestricted Species List
As stated above, IFW has the animals that they denied on this link
http://www.maine.gov/ifw/wildlife/speci ... pecies.htm. They are listed as follows off their site:
"Many species have already been considered and rejected. Most recently, these include: Woma (python) [Aspedites ramsayi], Dumeril’s Boa [Acrantophis dumerili], Madagascar Tree Boa, Boa Mandrita [Sanzinia madagascariensis], Madagascar (Malagasy) Ground Boa [Acrantophis madagasascariensis], Texas Indigo Snake [Drymarchon melanurus], Eastern Indigo Snake [Drymarchon corias coupen], Reeve’s Turtle [Chinemys (Mauremys) reevesii], and Tomato Frogs [Diyscophus antongilli]."The only darts that were denied, were denied because they are IUCN rated (check it out here
http://www.iucnredlist.org) as endangered.
As far as taxa goes, CITES actually doesnt recognice the
oophaga as the official name, it is merely a synonym for the species. They are currently accepting the
dendrobates as the official genius name. If you look at
CITES or specifically their search page
CITES SEARCH you can see what they are considering the current names for species, and what is generally accepted as a close enough. As Mark Stadler (I am assuming that is who you meant as Marc) the
oophaga are legal in Maine. Its all in what you call them.
